Housing Element Update 2019-27

The City of Clearlake is conducting an update to the Housing Element. The Housing Element, part of the City’s General Plan, is a policy document that addresses existing and future housing needs for all Clearlake residents and economic groups. The State of California requires by law that the Housing Element be updated periodically. The City is updating the document for the 2019-2027 period.

The City conducted two public workshops with the Planning Commission on April 2 and June 4, 2019 to obtain public input.  The document has now been submitted to the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) for review. The City expects to receive comments back from HCD in the next 60 days and will then finalize the document for adoption by the City.  This adoption process will include additional public hearings with the Planning Commission and City Council later this summer. In the meantime, the City continues to welcome public comment on the Preliminary Draft 2019-27 Draft document.

The Preliminary Draft 2019-27 Housing Element document is available for review below (Please refer to C-Clearlake 2019-27 Housing Element. We are requesting any comments that you have on the draft plan and soliciting additional comments that can help improve housing conditions in the City for the future.  For comparison, below is the current 2014-19 Housing Element (refer to B-Clearlake 2014-19 Housing Element).
